2018 ASC Quality and Safety Conference to Focus on Collaboration

An accomplished surgical oncologist, Dr. Dan Avradopoulos treats patients at the Heywood Hospital in Gardner, Massachusetts. Dr. Dan Avradopoulos is a member of the American College of Surgeons (ACS), which will hold its Quality and Safety Conference (QSC) in July 2018.

The conference brings medical professionals together for an exploration of initiatives designed specifically for those involved in or served by ACS quality programs. Participants may attend a broad selection of breakout, general, and abstract sessions.

Content and sessions for the 2018 QSC will follow the theme of “Partnering for Improvement” and will highlight collaborative approaches to the understanding of quality and safety fundamentals. Attendees may participate in several different tracks, including one focusing on Optimal Resources for Surgical Quality and Safety (ORSQS) based on concepts from the ORSQS manual.

The 2018 ACS Quality and Safety Conference will take place July 21-24 at the Hyatt Regency Orlando in Florida.

About Me

Dr. Konstantino (Dan) Avradopoulos has more than 20 years of experience in medicine and currently serves as a surgeon and the lead physician of the Wound Care Center at Heywood Hospital in Gardner, Massachusetts. The Wound Care Center received a Center of Distinction Award from Healogics, Inc., in 2016. Following his graduation from Northeast Ohio University's College of Medicine, Dr. Dan Avradopoulos completed a surgical residency at Riverside Methodist Hospital, where he distinguished himself as the chief resident of his class.

Subsequently invited to a surgical oncology fellowship at Brown University College of Medicine and the Roger Williams Medical Center, Dr. Dan Avradopoulos was honored to receive the American Cancer Society's Clinical Fellowship Award and the American Society of Clinical Oncology's Merit Award. He completed his fellowship in 1996 and went on to serve on the surgical staffs of three Providence hospitals, all affiliated with Brown University.

Since that time, Dr. Dan Avradopoulos has held clinical staff positions and administrative posts at several prominent New England hospitals. While serving as the director of surgical oncology and gastrointestinal oncology at Saint Vincent Hospital in the Worcester (Massachusetts) Medical Center, Dr. Avradopoulos took on additional responsibilities as the surgical oncology director and medical director of the breast cancer clinic at Reliant Medical/Fallon Clinic. Later hired as a staff surgeon and hospital administrator at Harrington Hospital, Dr. Avradopoulos now serves as the lead physician of Heywood Hospital’s Wound Care Center.
